Bison Bushcraft is one of the earliest established wilderness skills training and outfitting businesses in The UK. Roger Harrington started the business in 1996 after identifying a need for good natured and enjoyable wilderness skills training, combined with a well-sourced supply of high quality and thoroughly tested equipment, specific to the needs of Bushcraft and back country adventures.
At the time he started Bison, some of the kit just couldn't be bought. Roger either ended up either making it himself (the knives) or designing various items and having them made to his own exacting specifications. Roger has always had a preference for natural materials and, wherever possible, has tried to source products ‘close to their roots’ and have them locally made. This has led to a collection of highly regarded outdoor products that are functional, ethical and reliable.
The Bison Bushcraft skills training programme is unrivalled in its unique and friendly approach to the needs of their clients. The instruction is experience based and you’ll find the staff working with and alongside clients at every step of the training. Bison Bushcraft has a customer base that includes civil, police and military clients giving them the experience and flexibility to adapt to all of your training objectives, be they for leisure, professional development or just a good weekend away. Roger has advised on film and television work, taught at schools and other organisations such as The Forestry Commission and local councils. He teaches at local scout groups and is a training advisor to The UK Scout movement.

Before cheap flights and growth of good transport links, the western part of Ireland was particularly remote, and the winter nights must have seemed very long. In order to while away the evenings some of the Irish crofters used to craft a simple water boiler in copper using hand tools - for fisherman, itinerant workers and tourists. This proved to be highly effective and efficient.
John Grindlay, who with his wife owns and runs the Eydon Kettle Company, modified the design and implemented modern manufacturing techniques in the early 1970s. So the heritage and satisfaction with the STORM Kettle continues. All STORM Kettles are carefully made in the UK.
Nowadays they can be found in the Solomon Islands, helping remote islanders boil water to purify it, in remote parts of southern Africa, where dried cattle dung is used by the Zulus as fuel and in the Sahara Desert on expeditions.
